Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry comments on status of Jerusalem

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is committed to the strict observance of international law and the need for implementation of the UN Security Council decisions on the status of Jerusalem.

This is reported by the press service of the Foreign Ministry.

"Ukraine is committed to the strict observance of international law and the need for implementation of the UN Security Council decisions on the status of Jerusalem," the statement reads.

The Foreign Ministry of Ukraine believes that the international community should make every effort, including within the UN Security Council, to prevent violence and to urge the parties to immediately resume the Middle East peace talks.

December 6, US President Donald Trump officially announced the recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Israel and the intention to move the US embassy from Tel Aviv to this city.

December 8, the UN Security Council will meet to discuss the current situation around Jerusalem.
