MH17: Verkhovna Rada extends agreement on investigation with the Netherlands

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has ratified the agreement between Ukraine and the Kingdom of the Netherlands on prolonging the period of effect of the agreement between Ukraine and the Kingdom of the Netherlands on the international mission to protect investigation into MH17 crash until August 1, 2018.

A total of 257 Ukrainian lawmakers voted for the adoption of the relevant draft law No. 0169, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

Thus, the Verkhovna Rada extended the period of effect of the agreement between Ukraine and the Netherlands on the international mission to protect investigation into MH17 crash which occurred on July 28, 2014. This agreement provides for the formation of an international mission to protect investigation into the causes of downing Malaysia Airlines MH17 flight over the territory of Ukraine on July 17, 2014. The mission is led the authorities of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

As a reminder, Malaysia Airlines MH17 Boeing 777 heading from Amsterdam for Kuala Lumpur was shot down over militant-occupied territory in Donetsk region, eastern Ukraine, on July 17, 2014. All 298 people on board were killed in the crash.
