Poroshenko impressed by refusal of honest prosecutors to take bribes
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said this in his speech at the Prosecutor General's Office on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the agency, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"As far as I am informed, more than fifty prosecutors - up to the level of regional deputies - have been dismissed since January for unfairness, unreliability of data in electronic declarations, inconsistency of lifestyle with declared earnings," the president said.
Poroshenko added that he was impressed by many cases of the refusal of honest prosecutors to take the bribes offered. "They do not take them, and they also arrest those who offer them!" he added.
According to the president, such changes in the prosecutor's office are part of global reform of the entire law enforcement system, which is "far from complete."
