Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman says that women’s representation in the Verkhovna Rada should be increased.

He stated this in a welcome speech at the opening of the first Ukrainian Women's Congress, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"The structure of the Ukrainian parliament on gender equality has changed somewhat, but it’s not enough," Groysman said and noted the need to amend the electoral legislation on gender issues.

The prime minister also stressed that the government started to introduce legal instruments for achieving gender equality. In particular, he reminded that a special Gender Office will be launched at the Cabinet of Ministers soon.

As earlier reported, the Ukrainian Women's Congress is held in Kyiv on November 22-23. The event is organized on the initiative of the inter-faction deputy union "Equal Opportunities"
