Foreign Ministry should intensify efforts to secure release and return of Ukrainian Radio correspondent to Ukraine from Belarus

The Foreign Ministry of Ukraine should intensify all efforts to secure the release and return of correspondent of the UA: Ukrainian Radio, Ukrainian citizen Pavlo Sharoiko to Ukraine from Belarus.

Head of the Parliamentary Committee on Freedom of Speech and Information Policy Viktoria Siumar said this to journalists on the sidelines of the Verkhovna Rada, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"This is a typical Russian action, when Ukrainian journalists are caught for espionage. Obviously, this proves once again that special services of the Russian Federation operate in Belarus, and their special services have direct contacts with the Russian Federation. The Foreign Ministry of Ukraine should intensify all efforts to secure the release and return of the Ukrainian journalist to the territory of Ukraine," she said.

As Ukrinform reported, Correspondent of the UA: Ukrainian Radio, Ukrainian citizen Pavlo Sharoiko was detained in Belarus on the charge of espionage.
