U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Wess Mitchell and President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko discussed the possibility of providing lethal weapons to Ukraine.
Mitchell said this to journalists after the meeting with the President of Ukraine in Kyiv, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"Yes, we discussed this issue. The United States continues to view this as one of the options," the US diplomat said when asked whether lethal weapons supplies to Ukraine were discussed during the meeting with Poroshenko.
Mitchell stressed that the issue of enhancement of Ukraine's defense capabilities remained under consideration at the US presidential administration.
