Volker, Surkov to discuss release of Ukrainian hostages – Iryna Herashchenko

U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations Kurt Volker and Russian presidential aide Vladislav Surkov will discuss the issue of release of Ukrainian hostages during today's meeting in Belgrade.

First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, the representative of Ukraine in the Trilateral Contact Group for the settlement of the situation in Donbas, Iryna Herashchenko, informed this on Facebook.

"U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations Kurt Volker meets with Putin's adviser Surkov today. Volker at the request of the Ukrainian side will talk about hostages and their release and will hand over letters from the families of hostages," the report reads.

Herashchenko stresses that security issues and hostages are Ukraine's key priorities. "We, in turn, are doing everything for their release," she said, adding that it is unacceptable that the fate of people is used by the Russian Federation and their puppets as a means to blackmail Ukraine.
