Parliament should appeal to EU regarding conditions for obtaining membership in EU – Burbak

The People's Front faction in the Verkhovna Rada initiates an appeal of the Parliament to the European Union regarding the criteria and conditions for obtaining membership in the European Union.
Head of the People's Front faction Maksym Burbak said this at a meeting of the Conciliation Council, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"We believe that the Parliament should appeal to the European community with a request to grant Ukraine the conditions and criteria to become a member of the European Union, and we will implement them," Burbak said.
He also stressed that NATO membership would be the best guarantee of Ukraine's security. "It is necessary to resume negotiations and sign a plan of action on Ukraine's membership in the Alliance," the head of the faction said.
In addition, he said that the parliament should consider bills "on a specific plan for accession to the European Union and NATO."
