Yelchenko, Volker, Haley discuss prospects of UN mission in Donbas

The heads of the permanent missions of Ukraine and the United States to the United Nations, Volodymyr Yelchenko and Nikki Haley, as well as U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker, discussed on Monday the prospects for the deployment of a UN mission to eastern Ukraine.

This is stated in a series of tweets on the official pages of the Ukrainian and U.S. missions, Ukrinform reports.

"Ambassador Yelchenko met with Special Representative for Ukraine Volker & Ambassador Nikki Haley. We discussed the prospects for the deployment of a UN peacekeeping mission to Donbas," the Mission of Ukraine to the UN tweeted.

At the same time, Volker also posted a message on his official Twitter account, where he expressed satisfaction with the talks.

"Thank you Nikki Haley for hosting me & Yelchenko to discuss Ukraine's views on the UN role in resolving the conflict. Host country consent is vital," he wrote.

As Ukrinform reported, last week Volker spoke about his intention to meet with Russian presidential aide Vladislav Surkov on November 13 to discuss the situation in eastern Ukraine. According to him, the parties are also discussing the introduction of the United Nations peacekeeping mission to Donbas.
