US Assistant Secretary of State to visit Kyiv in a week

Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Wess Mitchell is going to visit Kyiv to discuss issues of restoring sovereignty and implementing reforms.

This is stated in the media note of the Office of the Spokesperson at the U.S. Department of State, released on Sunday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs Wess Mitchell will travel to Brussels, Belgium; Paris, France; London, England; Berlin, Germany; Warsaw, Poland; and Kyiv, Ukraine, November 6-16, to underscore the U.S. commitment to our transatlantic alliance and to our partnerships," ​​the statement reads.

As noted, November 14-16, Assistant Secretary Mitchell will meet with senior government officials in Kyiv to reaffirm “the United States’ commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and encourage Ukraine to continue implementing critical reforms.”

In addition, Mitchell will meet business leaders and civil society representatives to “discuss Ukrainian efforts to transform the country into a prosperous, secure, and democratic European state.”
