Ukraine’s Ambassador to Austria: Victory of Kurtz good news for Ukraine

The victory of 31-year-old Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurtz in Austria’s snap general election is good news for Ukraine.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Austria Oleksandr Shcherba stated this to, when commenting on the results of Austria’s election.

"Kurtz’s coming into the post of chancellor is good news for Ukraine. He knows our problems, he visited Ukraine several times, including the demarcation line [in Donbas]," the diplomat said.

Shcherba also noted that sweeping changes are not expected in Austria's foreign policy. However, the formation of a new government and its first steps will make it possible to draw any further conclusions, stressed the Ukrainian ambassador.

As earlier reported, the People’s Party (OVP), led by Sebastian Kurz, wins the Austrian snap general elections, according to exit poll results.
