Ukraine demands that international humanitarian missions get access to occupied Donbas - Iryna Gerashchenko
The first deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, representative of Ukraine in the humanitarian subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group, Iryna Gerashchenko, wrote this on Facebook following a meeting with the coordinators of the EU humanitarian projects.
"Donbas occupied by Russia remains completely closed to the international humanitarian missions; at the same time, during three years almost 70 so-called "humanitarian convoys" of the Russian Federation have been sent there in violation of the Ukrainian legislation. Ukraine urges an immediate access for the international humanitarian missions to enter the occupied territories," Gerashchenko stressed.
She notes that the humanitarian and environmental situation in the conflict zone remains difficult, the internally displaced persons are most in need of housing and jobs. According to her, Ukraine needs the greatest support of international partners in these areas.
Gerashchenko said that Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Hugues Mingarelli together with colleagues spoke about the EU's joint plan for humanitarian development that provides for the implementation of comprehensive measures to help the civilian population affected along both lines of demarcation.
