Poroshenko at meeting with Trudeau: A friend in need is a friend indeed

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has met with Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau during a working visit to Toronto.

As the press service of the Ukrainian President reports, Poroshenko thanked Trudeau for hospitality and a clear stance on support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine.

"A friend in need is a friend indeed. We feel Canada's support, including in security and defense policy," President Poroshenko said, recalling that Canadian military instructors assist in training of Ukrainian troops.

The President of Ukraine also thanked the Canadian side for supporting the reforms.

In turn, Justin Trudeau noted that the talks are a good opportunity for discussing key issues of Ukrainian-Canadian cooperation.

"Canada contributes to military training operations in Ukraine against the illegal invasion of Russia," he said.

The Prime Minister of Canada added: "We are friends, our countries are friends. This is a good chance also to welcome the wounded servicemen and women who take part in the Invictus Games."
