Trump calls on UN to respect Ukraine's sovereignty

Ukrinform
U.S. President Donald Trump has called on the United Nations to stop threats to the sovereignty of states and uphold respect for state borders, recalling the situation in Ukraine suffering from Russian aggression.

He stated this in his address at the opening of the general debate as part of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"We must reject threats to sovereignty from Ukraine to the South China Sea. We must uphold respect for law, respect for borders, and respect for culture, and the peaceful engagement these allow," the U.S. leader said.

In this regard, he called on the leaders of the states represented at the General Assembly to fulfill their obligations to their peoples.

"And just as the founders of this body intended, we must work together and confront together those who threatens us with chaos, turmoil, and terror," Trump said.

The general political debate with the participation of heads of state and governments of more than 120 countries began at UN headquarters in New York on September 19.
