Moldova, Ukraine and Georgia call for development of roadmap for EU membership
Moldovan Deputy Parliament Speaker Iurie Leanca stated this after a meeting between representatives of the legislative bodies of Moldova, Ukraine and Georgia, which was held in Italy, an Ukrinform correspondent in Moldova reports.
"We agreed to work out a joint appeal of Moldova, Ukraine and Georgia to the European Parliament and call on European legislators to adopt a resolution on political support for our states and the development of a roadmap for joining the European Union. It was also agreed that the parliaments of Moldova, Ukraine and Georgia will develop a plan of joint measures on trilateral cooperation in bringing national legislation into line with European standards and implementing joint infrastructure projects and projects in the field of energy security," Leanca said.
The parliamentarians of the three countries adopted a joint declaration on the need to rethink the format of the Eastern Partnership.
The meeting was held in the context of the Eastern Partnership summit to be held in Brussels.
Eastern Partnership consists of six countries: Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Belarus.
