Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin has met with Swedish and Polish counterparts Margot Wallstrom and Witold Waszczykowski as part of his working visit to New York on September 18 to attend the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly.

"During the meeting, the sides discussed the ways of Ukraine's interaction with Poland and Sweden as part of the UN, in particular the Security Council," the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reported on Monday, September 18.

He also emphasized the need to continue political and diplomatic pressure on Russia as an aggressor country, as well as counteracting Russian destructive actions and propaganda.

As part of the initiative of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, the parties discussed the deployment of a UN peacekeeping operation in Ukrainian territory which could contribute to restoring peace and security in the Donbas.
