The working group of the Constitutional Commission under the President of Ukraine will prepare the draft amendments to the Fundamental Law regarding the autonomy of Crimea by the end of September.

Ukrainian MP, Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov said this in a commentary to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"We have undertaken a commitment and must finally consider the proposals [regarding the constitutional amendments] by the end of September to subsequently send them to the President," Chubarov said.

According to him, now the members of the working group are discussing the draft constitutional amendments regarding the establishment of the Crimean autonomy on the basis of the right of the Crimean Tatar people to self-determination within the Ukrainian state.

The chairman of the Mejlis stressed that all the group members believed that a section on the Crimean Tatar autonomy should be included in the Constitution of Ukraine.

Chubarov noted that the majority of the working group members agreed that the Constitution should provide for the establishment of a representative body to manage the Crimean autonomy.
