Iryna Gerashchenko, the member of the humanitarian subgroup in the Trilateral Contact Group for the peaceful settlement of the conflict in Donbas, the first deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, wrote this on Facebook.
"Putin, in the best traditions of the hybrid war, is trying to distort the idea of the Ukrainian leadership regarding peacekeepers in Donbas, turning everything on its head. He instructed his minister Lavrov to submit a resolution to the UN Security Council regarding peacekeepers on the collision line. But the collision line appeared due to Russian aggression. For us, this is the line of contact with territories temporarily occupied by Mordor, which we will definitely return. This line must disappear for ever from the Ukrainian land on the day of the return of control over the border. This is not the Ukrainian border, so there can be no talk of peacekeepers exclusively along the line of contact," Gerashchenko wrote.
She added that the Kremlin scenarios and attempts to substitute the concepts and distort the idea of peacekeepers "will fail."
"The peacekeepers should be introduced to the entire territory occupied by Russia in order to monitor the security situation and demilitarization, their mandate should end on the Ukrainian-Russian border, and this is Izvaryne checkpoint and other points of crossing the state Ukrainian border, but not Stanytsia Luhanska or Marinka, as the Kremlin leader wants very much," the first vice-speaker said.
As reported, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a press conference following the BRICS summit on Tuesday, September 5, that he considered the presence of peacekeepers in Donbas for OSCE security appropriate, but these forces should be only on the line of demarcation, and this issue must be coordinated with the representatives of the self-proclaimed republics.
