Romanian president to visit Ukraine

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin and Minister for Romanians Abroad Andreea Pastarnac have discussed a number of issues related to ensuring the rights of the Romanian national minority in Ukraine and Ukrainians in Romania, the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has reported.

The sides agreed that both communities should remain a key element of cooperation between the two countries.

Pastarnac noted that the Romanian side was interested in preserving the identity of ethnic Romanians living in Ukraine.

"At the same time, we call on them to be loyal citizens of their state, and we support the need for proper knowledge of Ukrainian language by all Ukrainian citizens," she said.

The parties also agreed on the proper preparation of bilateral high-level events, first and foremost, an official visit by Romanian President Klaus Iohannis to Ukraine.
