Financial support for people disabled from childhood to be preserved - Zagoriy
A total of 265 MPs voted for the adoption at first reading and as a whole of bill No. 2026, which was drafted by Bloc of Petro Poroshenko faction deputies Oleksandr Tretyakov and Hlib Zagoriy.
"We managed to restore justice for the most vulnerable categories of our citizens – those disabled from childhood. It turned out that after a disabled child of the A subgroup reached the age of majority the amount of state social assistance, along with the allowance for care, in case of being recognized as a disabled person of the first group, the A subgroup, decreased by almost UAH 300. And the needs of such a person, who since childhood has an extremely high degree of loss of health and strong dependence on permanent third-party care, does not decrease, but on the contrary increases after reaching adulthood," the law's co-author, Hlib Zagoriy, said, while commenting on the necessity of the document.
The Law of Ukraine "On State Social Assistance to Persons with Disabilities from Childhood and Disabled Children" envisages the provision to children with disabilities under the age of 18 years of state social assistance at 70% of the minimum wage, as well as childcare allowances of 50% only before adulthood. According to Law of Ukraine No. 2026, if the size of the monthly social assistance with the allowance for the care of those disabled from childhood of the first group, the A subgroup, does not reach the size of such payments for children with disabilities of the A subgroup aged from 6 to 18 years, the state guarantees an additional monthly payment in the amount, which is not sufficient to the specified size. The effect of this law from January 1, 2016 will apply to 2,000 disabled children of the first group, the A subgroup, with a high degree of loss of health and dependence on permanent third-party care.
