Ukraine calls on UN to react to conflicts more quickly

The Ukrainian delegation has called on the main UN institutions to react swiftly to the conflicts in the world with the aim of localizing them and preventing the growth of violence and human rights violations.
Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Kyslytsia said this at the meeting of the UN Security Council on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"The speed of the UN reaction is critical in terms of preventing conflicts and growth of human rights violations," Kyslytsia said during the debate on peace and security in Africa.
In this regard, the representative of Ukraine recalled that the UN had failed to prevent the genocide in Rwanda in 1994. "Twenty years later, the United Nations, the Security Council and the Secretary General did nothing to stop the occupation of Crimea and the military aggression of Russia," the Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister said.
