Poroshenko on MH17 crash: We must prove inevitability of liability to Russia

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko is convinced that the impartiality of the Dutch justice will help to establish the truth and punish MH17 crash perpetrators.

The President wrote this on his Facebook page.

"Today, lighting the candles in memory, we bow our heads before 298 innocent victims of MH17 flight crash.  A terrible tragedy responded with unspeakable pain in the hearts of relatives and friends and each of us," the Head of State wrote.

According to him, this crime might not have happened if a Russian missile had not been delivered from the territory of Russia amid the Russian aggression.

"Our responsibility to the dead and the future generations is to prove the inevitability of liability for all the crimes committed to the aggressor. For this reason, I did not hesitate a second when I decided in the first days after the tragedy to transfer the investigation to the Netherlands. I also did not hesitate over signing the agreement between Ukraine and the Netherlands a few days ago, which confirmed the selection of a mechanism to hold criminals responsible," Poroshenko reminded.

As noted, this is the common response to the geopolitical ambitions of those who try to derail the establishment of truth at the highest international level.

"I am convinced that the impartiality of the Dutch justice will complete this path. This is our common duty to the memory of those whose lives were cut short by a Russian missile exactly three years ago," the President stressed.

As a reminder, Malaysia Airlines MH17 Boeing 777 heading from Amsterdam for Kuala Lumpur was shot down over militant-occupied territory in Donetsk region, eastern Ukraine, on July 17, 2014. All 298 people on board were killed in the crash.
