He said this while opening a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Commission in Kyiv on Monday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"Today, we sincerely congratulate representatives of the 29 member states of the alliance - I emphasize - the most effective security tool in the world, and the most effective security alliance of states formed after the Second World War," Poroshenko said.
He stressed that the North Atlantic Alliance continued to develop successfully now.
He also said that Ukraine had currently passed a law outlining NATO membership as a key factor in its foreign policy.
