Dzhemilev, Erdogan discuss current situation in Crimea
According to the press service of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Mustafa Dzhemilev spoke about the current situation in Crimea, particularly the human rights situation and persecutions of Crimean Tatars and other citizens of Ukraine who oppose the annexation of the peninsula by the Russian Federation.
"The leader of the Crimean Tatars stressed the need for the immediate release of all political prisoners, held in Russia, and cancelling the order which bans the Mejlis representatives from entering Crimea," the statement reads.
In turn, Erdogan assured that the Turkish authorities were taking measures to prevent Turkish vessels from entering the Crimean ports.
"President of the Republic of Turkey confirmed his readiness to support the initiative of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people to build a central mosque in Kyiv to testify the unity of the Muslims of Ukraine," the statement said.
