Poroshenko discusses with U.S. Congress delegation strengthening of Ukraine’s defense capacity

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held a meeting with two-party delegation of the U.S. Congress, during which, in particular, the issues of strengthening the defense capacity of Ukraine were discussed.

This has been reported by the press service of the Head of State.

President Poroshenko expressed gratitude for the consistent bipartisan support for Ukraine by the U.S. Congress in the issue of countering the ongoing Russian aggression and enhancement of Ukraine’s sustainability through the implementation of relevant reforms.

In this context, the parties discussed strengthening of Ukraine’s defense capacity, funding of security aid to our state by the U.S. budget and enhancement of investment and trade-economic cooperation.

Poroshenko informed on the situation in Donbas and ongoing violations of the ceasefire regime by the militants controlled by Russia.

In this regard, the parties noted the necessity of preserving and increasing the international sanctions against Russia until full implementation of the Minsk agreements and restoration of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, including Crimea.
