Trump thanks Merkel for her efforts to settle Donbas conflict

United States President Donald Trump has thanked German Chancellor Angela Merkel for her leading role in the process of settling the conflict in Donbas.
Trump stated this during the joint press conference with the German leader after their meeting in the White House on Friday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
"I am grateful to Chancellor Merkel for her leadership along with the French President in settling the conflict in Ukraine, where we are in search of a peaceful solution," the head of the White House said.
Trump also noted that he had assured the German leader of the firm support for NATO on part of the United States. At the same time, Trump once again stressed the need for an "equitable distribution" of the financial burden within the Alliance.
