Red Cross increases budget for Ukraine

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has increased a budget for humanitarian operations in Ukraine to EUR 56 million in 2017.

President of the ICRC Peter Maurer stated this at a press briefing on Friday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

According to him, the budget for Ukraine will be used for humanitarian operations in the territories along the contact line in Donbas, where about 500,000 people live, and first of all, these funds will be spent on the needs of people.

Peter Maurer also added that in the middle of the year the ICRC could review the budget and increase its amount if needed.
