Russia bears special responsibility for implementation of Minsk agreements – NATO Deputy Secretary General

NATO Deputy Secretary General Rose Gottemoeller said this after the meeting with Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman in Brussels on Thursday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"I urge all parties to respect their commitments. Russia bears a special responsibility for this," the NATO Deputy Secretary General said about the implementation of the Minsk agreements.

She noted that the biggest escalation for the past two years had recently occurred in Donbas.

The Alliance also noted that OSCE observers must have a full access to the territories within Ukraine, including the border area with Russia, according to the Minsk agreements.

Gottemoeller stressed that the Alliance’s support for Ukraine was aimed at developing the state opportunities to defend its territorial integrity and sovereignty.
