PACE praises success of reforms in Ukraine, reminds of corruption
This is stated in the PACE resolution "The functioning of democratic institutions in Ukraine", adopted on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
106 PACE members voted for the resolution, 11 members voted against, and 9 members abstained.
The resolution was prepared by rapporteurs of the PACE Monitoring Committee for Ukraine Jordi Xucla (Spain) and Axel Fischer (Germany).
"The Parliamentary Assembly welcomes the ambitious program of reforms, initiated by the Ukrainian leadership to meet the requirements of Ukrainians put forward during the Revolution of Dignity. The Assembly recognizes that these reforms take place under difficult conditions caused by the Russian aggression in eastern Ukraine and the illegal annexation of Crimea," the document says.
At the same time, it is emphasized that the lack of progress in the Minsk agreements implementation should not be a reason for inhibiting the pace of reform and democratic consolidation of the country.
