He stated this at a briefing in Odesa, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"I decided to resign and start a new stage of the struggle. I will not give up, I will not get tired, they may not even hope. And they should not expect to get rid of me. [I will make every effort] to clean Ukraine of this corruption dirt, which capitalizes on the blood of our soldiers, Maidan victims, who betrays the idea of the Ukrainian revolution and whose only motivation is to line pockets, to strengthen clan and to rob Ukraine blind," Saakashvili said.
Later, his spokeswoman Daryna Chyzh said that the governor of Odesa region would stay at his post until the President signed his resignation.
