President of Ukraine meets with President of Venice Commission

President Petro Poroshenko held a meeting with President of the Venice Commission Gianni Buquicchio.
This has been reported by the press service of the Head of State.
The parties discussed the course of the implementation of constitutional amendments on justice that entered into force on September 30, 2016.
The Head of State thanked Gianni Buquicchio for the Commission’s position on the legal analysis of events related to the aggression of Russia against Ukraine, in particular, for the Venice Commission’s conclusion about the unconstitutionality of the referendum in Crimea and about the non-compliance with international law of Russian amendments to the procedure of admission of new subjects to the Federation.
Gianni Buquicchio confirmed willingness of the Commission to further assist Ukraine in the reform of the judicial system.
