Russian lawyer Mark Feygin has stated that he and his colleagues prepare the evidence of persecution of Crimean Tatars for the meeting of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The lawyer said this in an interview with Ukrinform

"The relations between Russia and Turkey are improving. However, I am sure that the issue of the Crimean Tatars will not disappear from the agenda. We, in turn, are doing everything to draw attention to it," Feygin said.

He noted he could not reveal the details yet. The lawyer also made a bold assumption: "It is not clear what can be expected in the current situation. I, for example, would not rule out even a version of pardoning the Crimean Tatar political prisoners."

Feygin is the lawyer of Ukrainian political prisoner in the occupied Crimea Ilmi Umerov and Ukrainian MP Mustafa Dzhemilev.

Turkish President Erdogan and Russian President Putin are to meet in St. Petersburg, Russia, on August 9.
