Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini discussed at the meeting a range of security issues relating to Russian aggression in eastern Ukraine. Groysman informed Mogherini of escalation in the occupied regions of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

This is reported by Government portal.

"We should work together and firmly respond to this situation. It is necessary to step up pressure on Russia to force it to withdraw its troops from the territory of our state. Only appropriate security conditions in Donbas will make it possible to implement the main political provisions of the Minsk agreements, in particular, holding of local elections," Groysman said.

Mogherini confirmed EU’s strong support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and pointed out that a clear evidence of this support was the continuation of sectoral sanctions against Russia for the next six months.

Groysman and Mogherini also discussed the ways to boost efficiency of countering the external challenges.
