230 MPs in coalition now – Rada Speaker
Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy said this at the briefing after today’s meeting of the Agenda-Setting Council, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"According to the documents I received from the Parliament’s staff at the time of our vote [on appointment of a new Prime Minister and government], there were 237 members of the coalition. However, due to the fact that seven MPs laid down their mandates, and I think it was an example of a new political culture – to lay down [parliamentary] mandate immediately after the election of the government, there are 230 members of the coalition now," the Speaker said.
Parubiy reminded that the coalition consisted not only of the lawmakers, who belonged to one or another faction, but of the unaffiliated MPs as well.
