The European Union has extended sanctions against Russian, Crimean, separatist and terrorist leaders involved in encroachment on the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine.

This was approved by the permanent representatives of the EU Member States at the Council of the European Union on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent in Brussels reports.

The sanctions against 146 people and 37 institutions are extended for next six months. In particular, the visa ban and asset freeze will be applied in respect of senior officials of the Russian government and the parliament, the officials of the Russian Presidential Administration, as well as the oligarchs close to Putin.
