Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, İsmail Kahraman at a meeting with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said that Turkey continues to support Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty and will never recognize Russia’s illegal annexation of Crimea.

The president’s press service reports this.

“The president thanked Turkey for its support in the issues of human rights violation in occupied Crimea and urged the speaker of the Grand National Assembly to take further efforts to retain this issue on the agenda of world policy. The speaker of the Grand National Assembly confirmed that Turkey does not recognize the illegal annexation of Crimea and supports Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity,” reads a report.

During the meeting President Poroshenko also expressed interest of Ukraine in enhancing interparliamentary cooperation with Turkey at bilateral level, as well as among international organizations.

İsmail Kahraman, in turn, informed that a group of friendship with Ukraine had been established in the Turkish Parliament a few days ago.

In addition, special attention was paid to the issue of recognizing the deportation of Crimean Tatars in 1944 an act of genocide.
