Regular meeting of foreign ministers in Normandy format takes place today in Paris
According to ministry for foreign affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin, the Ukrainian side will discuss three key sets of issues: first, the issue of security; second, the exchange of hostages, in particular relating to prisoners, in Donbas and the political hostages in Crimea and Russia; third, the elections in Donbas.
Recall that Normandy format summits have taken place four times led by Heads of State of Ukraine, Germany, France and Russia since June 2014. One summit in August 2015 took place without the participation of the Russian president.
Normandy format also provides for separate meetings of foreign ministers of the four countries without the participation of Heads of State of Normandy format. A total of 10 such meetings were recorded.
Last summit in Normandy format at the level of ministers for foreign affairs of Ukraine, Germany, France and Russia was held on February 13, 2016 at the Munich Security Conference. At that meeting, the Crimea issue was raised for the first time, thus broadening the range of issues of Normandy format. Earlier, Normandy format talks had focused exclusively on Donbas crisis.
