Influenza sickness rate by 22% lower than epidemic threshold – administration

The number of influenza and acute respiratory infection cases in Kyiv is by 22% lower than the epidemic threshold, the healthcare department of Kyiv City State Administration reports.

“Over the period from January 18 to January 24, 2016, some 35, 193 ill people (of whom 18,202 – adults, 16,991 – children) have been registered, which is by 22% lower than the epidemic threshold (the epidemic threshold is 43,930) and by 32% higher than showings of the previous week,” reads a report.

The sickness rate is being observed among all age groups and contingent, apart from infants under the age of 12 months. The illness rate among pupils is 17.1% of the general amount of cases.

In addition, as of January 25, 682 people with acute respiratory infections and 268 people suffering from flu have been hospitalized.
