Over 86,000 Ukrainians have been sought medical assistance in the past twenty-four hours, according to Sviatoslav Protas, acting chairman of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service of Ukraine.

“We have a dramatic increase in the number of people’s visits to doctors regarding acute respiratory infections, including influenza. In past twenty-four hours, there were over 86,000 such addresses. And about 2.5 million people have consulted doctors since the beginning of the epidemic season. This makes us glad as the main problem associated with negative effects of diseases such as the flu is late treatment,” Protas said at a briefing on Thursday, January 21.

According to him, as to the sickness rate, the epidemic threshold has been exceeded in Donetsk and Vinnytsia regions, while Kherson and Chernivtsi are close to these numbers.

“Speaking about the dynamics, tendencies, than the sickness rate has going down in Zhytomyr, Zakarpattia, Kyiv, Luhansk regions, as well as Poltava, Sumy, Ternopil, Chernivtsi, Chernihiv regions and the city of Kyiv. As to the other regions, the number of people seeking medical treatment is growing,” Protas said.
