Ukraine to file lawsuit against Russia with International Court of Justice

Ukrinform
Ukraine intends to file a lawsuit with the International Court of Justice against Russia for financing terrorism this year.

Justice Minister of Ukraine Pablo Petrenko said this in an interview with Ukrainian Channel 5.

According to the Minister, Ukraine's government has already submitted three inter-state applications against Russia while Russia hasn't provided any explanation to the ECHR.

In addition, the Minister informed that the citizens of Ukraine had filed about 700 lawsuits against Russia with the European Court of Human Rights.

"Over 700 [lawsuits have been filed], and the number is constantly growing," he said, adding that most of them have been filed by the displaced persons from the annexed Crimea, Luhansk and Donetsk regions.

The Minister expects the first ECHR ruling on these lawsuits at the end of 2016.
