President appoints Muzhenko as commander-in-chief of Armed Forces

KYIV, July 3 /Ukrinform/. Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has appointed Lieutenant General Viktor Muzhenko commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

He said this at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada on Thursday, a Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"Today I have come to the Rada to introduce the new leadership of the law enforcement bloc and the defense minister. Simultaneously I'm informing you that I'am appointing Lieutenant General Viktor Muzhenko as the new chief of the General Staff and commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," Poroshenko said.

He added that Muzhenko acted heroically during the anti-terrorist operation and is a general with strategic thinking and undisputed authority among staff.
