ATO in Donetsk airport: Paratroopers, fighters
KYIV, May 26 /Ukrinform/. Ukrainian paratroopers are clearing the Donetsk International Airport of terrorists who have blocked its work since 03.00.
Press officer of the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) Oleksiy Dmytrazhevsky told Ukrinform.
"After the expiration of the ultimatum to terrorists from ATO leadership, the Ukrainian forces began clearing the airport of the militants. The Su-25 has made a preliminary shot at their disposition. Paratroopers landed from helicopters to perform an operation to liberate the occupied territory," the press officer said.
As Ukrinform reported, May 26, at about 03.00 in the morning a few dozen armed representatives of the so-called Donetsk People's Republic entered the territory of the airport demanding the withdrawal of the Ukrainian military guarding the inner perimeter of the airport. From 07.00 the airport has been temporarily closed.
According to the schedule, by the end of the day the airport should have taken and sent 25 aircraft.
