Ukraine, Belarus start border demarcation
KYIV, June 19 /UKRINFORM/. Ukraine and Belarus have exchanged the instruments of ratification of a state border agreement, which will help start the demarcation of the Ukrainian-Belarusian border.
Deputy Director of the Information Policy Department of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Vasyl Zvarych said this at a briefing in Kyiv on Wednesday, a Ukrinform correspondent reported.
"There was an exchange of the instruments of ratification of an agreement between Ukraine and the Republic of Belarus on their state borders dated May 12, 1997," he said.
According to Zvarych, after exchanging the instruments of ratification the sides should set up a Belarusian-Ukrainian commission, which will help start the practical demarcation of the border between the two countries.
He also said that this is an important step aimed at implementing the action plan on visa liberalization with the EU.
Zvarych also said that four bilateral documents had been signed during Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko's official visit to Ukraine.
