State Penitentiary Service: Lutsenko does not need inpatient treatment
. There are currently no grounds for the inpatient treatment of former Ukrainian Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko, who is serving a prison sentence in the Mena penal colony, the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine has reported.
"Over the last three days, prisoner Lutsenko has undergone a complete (comprehensive) medical examination in Chernihiv Regional Clinical Hospital. In the conclusion of the medical commission, doctors said that there are currently no grounds for Lutsenko's inpatient treatment," reads the statement.
The State Penitentiary Service said that according to the findings of doctors, the health of the prisoner is satisfactory and that there was a positive dynamics of changes compared to the previous examination.
In addition, the service reported that doctors from Chernihiv Regional Clinical Hospital had given their recommendations for the prisoner's further medical treatment, which, if Lutsenko agrees, could be fulfilled by the medical staff of the Mena penal colony.
According to the service, Lutsenko refused a recommendation related to surgery.
Therefore, on December 6, Lutsenko was returned to the Mena penal colony.
