Issue on technogenic catastrophe in Donbas to be raised at Ukraine-EU Committee meeting – Gerashchenko

Members of the European Parliament after a visit to Donbas will insist on consideration of the issue of ecology, a possible technogenic catastrophe of this region, at a meeting of the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Association Committee, which will be held in autumn in Ukraine.

First Vice-Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Iryna Gerashchenko informed this on Facebook on Friday.

"The issue of ecology, a possible technogenic catastrophe in Donbas, will be one of the key issues at a meeting of the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Association Committee, which will be held in autumn in Ukraine. Members of the European Parliament Petras Austrevicius and Anna Fotyga will insist on this. Together with Ambassador of Slovenia to Ukraine Nataša Prah, Ambassador of Croatia Tomislav Vidošević, Ambassador of Portugal Maria Cristina Serpa de Almeida and MP Mariya Ionova, they visited Donbas today," the first vice-speaker wrote.

According to her, the members of the European Parliament and the representatives of the diplomatic missions together with Ukrainian MPs visited Avdiivka Coke and Chemical Plant  and participated in the expanded meeting with the participation of local authorities, government officials and deputies.
