Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy said this to journalists in Washington on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
"Ukraine is interested in more active involvement of the U.S. into any format that would relate to the liberation of the Ukrainian territory from the Russian occupation forces," the head of the Ukrainian parliament said.
He noted that the United States actively supported the Normandy format, "but if it offers another format that may be more effective in order to liberate Ukrainian territories, of course, the Ukrainian side will consider it."
Parubiy said that during his meetings in Washington on Tuesday and Wednesday with representatives of the U.S. administration, the secure format, namely a comprehensive and long-term ceasefire, was discussed in detail. "We also discussed the issue on withdrawal of Russian troops and restoration of the border control," the speaker said.
