Ukraine needs peacekeeping mission in order to return Donbas – Gerashchenko
Ukraine’s representative in the humanitarian subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group Iryna Gerashchenko said this at a meeting with representatives of the OSCE participating states, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"We have also focused the position of our OSCE partners on the fact that the Ukrainian authorities are aware that without the deployment of a peacekeeping mission in the occupied territories, it is very difficult to achieve both demilitarization and de-occupation there. We insist on a positive decision regarding the peacekeeping mission in Donbas," Gerashchenko said.
She has noted that only one country "that unleashed a war in Donbas" is against this position.
Gerashchenko has also stressed once again that Ukraine insists on full access of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to the entire occupied territory and of representatives of the observation mission to the annexed Crimea.
According to her, the issue of Crimea was also discussed during the current meeting.
Gerashchenko has informed that the delegation of the OSCE ambassadors will go to Donbas on Monday evening.
