President Petro Poroshenko met with President of the European People’s Party Joseph Daul and Chair of the EPP Group in the European Parliament Manfred Weber in the course of the working visit to Strasbourg.

The Head of State noted that the decision on visa waiver for Ukrainians has made Ukraine and the EU stronger, as freedom of movement is one of the foundations of the democratic community. Just as holding the Eurovision at the high level, the slogan of which “Celebrate Diversity and Equality”, has once again confirmed that Ukraine is an integral part of the united European family.
The parties shared views on the further steps on the implementation of the European agenda of Ukraine, particularly expressed hope for the completion of ratification of the Association Agreement.
The EPP leadership assured that Ukraine would further enjoy full support by the most influential European party in the issue of reforms and restoration of territorial integrity, including the issue of sanctions.
The Head of State informed on the course of fulfillment of the Minsk agreements and continuation of the Russian aggression. The parties condemned another cynical shelling of Avdiivka that killed 4 civilians.
The President of Ukraine emphasized that the 73rd anniversary of deportation of Crimean Tatars that will take place on May 18 is a painful reminder of current human rights violations on the peninsula and urged to back the efforts of Ukraine on de-occupation of Crimea.
