About 3.3 million Ukrainians obtain biometric passports - State Migration Service

As of May 11, 2017, about 3.3 million citizens of Ukraine obtained biometric passports for traveling abroad.

Spokesperson of the State Migration Service of Ukraine Serhiy Hunko said this to Radio Liberty.

He specified that 100,000 people received biometric passports in the last month.

Biometric passports are necessary for future visa-free trips to the European Union.

As reported, the Council of the European Union approved today a visa-free regime for Ukraine without discussion. The visa-free travels for Ukrainian citizens are to come into force on June 11.
