The Ukrainian Ministry for Information Policy is pleased to invite you to a press conference Crimean Tatar Media: Three Years of Resisting the Occupation to mark the Day of the Crimean Tatar journalism. The press conference is going to take place on Monday, April 10 at 11:00 at Ukrinform information agency (Kyiv, 8/16 Bohdana Khmelnytskoho str.).
The Human Rights Information Center report “The State of the Crimean Tatar Media in Crimea: 2014-2016” is going to be presented in the press conference.
Press conference participants:
- Emine Dzheppar, Deputy Information Policy Minister of Ukraine;
- Tetyana Pechonchyk, Head of the Board of the Human Rights Information Center;
- Gayana Yuksel, member of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, Director of QHA Information Agency.
April 10 is marked as the Day of the Crimean Tatar journalism starting from 2011. The decision was made in Bakhchisarai at a Crimean Tatar media conference. The first issue of the first Crimean Tatar periodical, a bilingual “Terjiman” issued by educator Ismail Gasprinskiy was published on April 10, 1883.
The event is co-organized by The Human Rights Information Center, Ministry for Information Policy and Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People. Simultaneous interpretation into English will be provided.
